About NEO 2025
New Educator Orientation (NEO) is the kickoff event of the HCPSS Teacher Induction Program. This event is intended for all newly hired educators, including those with prior teaching experience. Attendance is strongly encouraged for all newly hired educators.

Dates: August 11–13
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (In Person)
Who Should Attend:
All newly hired:
- General education teachers
- Special education and alternative education teachers
- Related arts teachers
- Related service providers- Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech Language Therapists
- Teachers of the visually impaired and hard of hearing
- School counselors, school psychologists, social workers, and mental health therapists
- GT Resource teachers and Instructional Technology teachers who are new to the position

Honorarium: Attendees will receive a $175 daily honorarium for each day of participation.
At New Educator Orientation (NEO), participants will:
- Begin to establish positive relationships with HCPSS staff who provide support and resources.
- Deepen understanding of effective strategies for creating a positive classroom environment and establishing positive relationships with students.
- Identify and explore best practices for their program area.
- Become aware of the HCPSS commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additional Opportunities for New Special Educators:
In-person sessions for Special Educators (in addition to NEO):
- August 6 (Full Day) – All New Special Educators
All new special educators should register. This is in addition to the NEO event. Details will be sent to registrants in early August.
- August 7 (Half Day) – Only Conditionally Licensed Special Educators
All conditionally licensed special educators should attend this session. Details will be sent to registrants in early August.
- August 7–8 (Full Day) – Safety Care Training
Required for new special educators assigned to:
- Regional Emotional Disabilities program
- Regional Academic Life Skills program
- Upper Learner or Primary Learner programs
- Cedar Lane School
- Note: If you are a conditional teacher and assigned to one of the above programs, register for this two-day training instead of the August 7 half-day session.
All new special educators should also register for the August 11–13 NEO event.
